Mental Stability and Health is referred to behavioral, emotional, psychological, and intellectual contentment. It is a positive and satisfying state of mind in which a person can control every aspect and affair of his life. A person with mental stability is ready and prepared to cope with every situation of life which translates into readiness for performance. It is the ability to live a life in a positive flow with every necessary interaction and contribution with his/her community.

Characteristics

Mental stability is farther from the absence of mental disorders and illness. It’s a combination of functioning well, feeling flourish about life, and a positive attitude towards people. Important Components of mental stability include:

· Life Satisfaction: It is the major component of mental stability. It is often defined as the measure and degree to which a person enjoys life and being satisfied with what’s going in life.

· Resilience: It is the strength and capability to rebound and cope with daily Stress and to grow after facing hard times.

· Self-esteem: It is another important sign of mental stability. It is all about feeling well about yourself and the Sense of Personal value.

· Flexibility: Having no rigid expectations towards life and its controversies.

· Optimism: Feeling positive and hopeful about life and future.

· Feeling positive: Experiencing positive emotions, having positive relationships, and feeling energetic.

Factors Affecting Mental Health

There are several factors affecting our mental health which can anyhow pose to Protect or pose to Risk your mental health. However, every individual goes through calm, cheerful, down and distress times and these factors are different for everyone and change over senescence.

Protective Factors

protective factors are the biological, psychological, and community’s positive attributes and influences that can improve the lives of individuals and reduces the negative impact of a risk factor. Positive factors are very

important for one’s good mental health and development.

Risk Factors

Risk factors are negative attributes and influences in the lives of individuals. They badly affect one’s mental health and stability. They are the main cause of Mental Disorders. Some of the risk factors are given below.

· Individual factors (includes lifestyle factors)

· Low self-esteem

· Family distress

· Poor social skills

· Child abuse

· Sexual abuse

· Early substance use (alcohol, cigarette, and all kind of drugs)

· Stressful and traumatic community

· Economic pressure

As, during the period of life, everyone experiences mental health problems, our thinking, lifestyle, attitude, and demeanor could be affected. The above risk factors are the main causes of an Individual’s Mental Illness.

How to get Mental Stability

Mental stability is also as important as physical stability. It needs the same energy, concentration, and consciousness as we pay to physical health. It is crucial to get mentally stable and get most of life. Our mental health is molded and formed by individual, economic, genetic, social, and environmental conditions. on an individual level, there are some simple steps which one can adapt to optimize their mental health such as:

· Engaging in regular physical activities and exercise

· Getting good sleep

· Keeping in touch with your friends or mentor

· Trying to be positive

· Eating healthy food (Nuts, beans, and flaxseed boost moods)

· Having realistic expectations

· Avoiding over-critical thinking

· Taking a break from the hectic and boring routine

· Drinking sensibly (fresh juices and plenty of water)

· Talking about your feelings

· Doing the things that make you happy

· Helping others

· Find purpose and meaning in life

It is also important to seek guidance and proper help from a doctor or mental health professional if you are facing difficulties in maintaining mental stability.

A healthy person is not only physically healthy but also mentally healthy. There are some characteristics that indicate you are mentally stable.

· You accept personal responsibilities and work hard to accomplish them.

· A mentally healthy person has his own Philosophy of Life. He has his own values towards life.

· He is Socially Stable and knows the art of social give and take.

· He Cope-up with every challenge in life and has the ability to survive in every circumstance.

· He has Healthy Relationships and treats others with love and respect.

· He has a Realistic Approach to various problems of life and he is not suppressed by fears and pitfalls.

It influences the individual’s lives, their perspective about life, and all aspects of their lives. Looking after mental stability and health conserve, and maintain a person’s ability to flourish and enjoy the bewitching moments of life.

Mental stability is important as it is a vital part of our lives. It refers to our psychological well-being and positive characteristics. There are many factors that effects our mental health and individual factors play an important role in it. Pay some extra attention to your mental health and enjoy the precious and cheerful moments.
